$28 for a cheese and “charcuterie” board that consisted of mortadella (aka bologna), capicola (ugly, but at least looked like it should), and prosciutto that was actually ham. Service that’s mediocre and prices that are stereotypical airport gouge prices [they have the same cheese board as everyone else (shared kitchen?] and charge almost $10 more than everyone else) and this place is a bomb (not “the” bomb). Avoid at all cost.
Terrible service , rude waitress, never came up to us.
Freddy is the best! Ask for him! We were a huge table of 16 and he was amazing :)
Never had a problem here, great service and a better experience than other stops further down the concourse
Most of the drinks on the menu don't show prices so I idled away a few spare moments annoying the bartender by asking the price of everything on the menu (prices are outrageous by the way). I guess they operate on the principle that if you have to ask, then you can't afford it. Do yourself a favor and grab a beer from the burger joint around the corner.
It's just so hard to get served here. 3 staff chatting in the kitchen. 2 staff at the bar drinking water and 2 staff behind the bar chatting. Not much serving happening. Nonsense.
The lousiest service I have had ever really ! First the server turns up to the table around 10m after I sit there and then she says you can sit there only if you eat ! ( the bar was full with some folks spreading out their jackets and bags ) and I had to squeeze behind a wall and literally holler to the bar tender to get some service . Finally they served a stale wine for $19 ! As I was consuming it two families were turned away by this same lady who put up the chairs on one side where families could sit and literally refused to serve them ! How uncouth and disrespectful. This is the first and last time here for me for sure !
Absolutely horrible place! We waited 15 minutes and we were completely ignored by the two bartenders. For those huge prices, you would expect some good service, but this place clearly lacks that! Don't go, it's a loss of time.
Expensive, cold food, really small and horrible serviceFirst and last time
Two words: service training. The bartender walks around with her chin up ignoring everyone until she feels like coming over. Why even be here? Managers need to do their jobs . Every cup is empty, every customer has their card in hand, I have no coffee with a dirty plate in front of me. Terrible attention and she moves like a snail. Her name tag says essence. Essence I'd choose another career. I'm also not tipping you as I can imagine others at this bar feel the same way. Sorry but someone gotta let ya know beau.
Terrible service, staff don't give a damn, pretty small portions for the price, but good view. Would only consider it if you only want drinks and dont have a plane to catch within the next couple of hours.
This place deserves 0 star rating. Worst service after 6 weeks visiting USA. ( even worse than Greyhound!). Some friendly service in a practically empty restaurant would be nice thank you .
Food's ok, service is ridiculously slow (waited 45 minutes for food after ordering), wine prices are absurd. 1 glass of albariño same as retail price for bottle.
JFK T7. What a disappointment. The ‘Cherokee heritage purple tomato’ was a bog standard, slightly underripe red tomato with a smear of mayo and a couple of anchovies on a roll. The sprouts were forgettable.Wine was the only good thing but vastly overpriced.Mind you, there’s not much competition...
Do not go there. Terminal 7 rude staff. We wanted to move one table closer to window and waiter said that what are we doing,we can't move because this is his table section in half empty bar. In my country you would get fired in 20 min. Dear waiters you are her for us. For TIP you have to be nice and polite, it's your job. Smile is also welcome.
Rude staff member, understaffed too. Told "if we don't like it, we can leave". Ended up having to go to the bar to order as we were mostly ignored after that. Avoid at all costs.
This Saturday morning bartender has fox on all six tv channels! I suggest avoiding it!
Used to be gem of terminal 4. Now take 30 min even to get someone to serve you. 70% of items on the menu not available.
Ordered a $30 wine flight only to be served disgusting wine that had clearly gone bad, in short martini glasses. When I asked for proper stemware the waitress seemed astonished and declared she didnt have enough (3). Bruschetta was disgusting globes of old tomatoes on bread. No garlic, salt, olive oil or balsamic. Didnt touch more than half a piece and still had to pay $45 for a terrible meal since the waitress didn't want to return it to the kitchen. Dont waste your time and go to Brindle instead.
The worst. The worst server. Took an hour for the food. Rude and just disgraceful (enough for me to warrant a review)
Currently sat at the bar with 4 others and we all agree on one particular point. The service by one male member of staff (HV) is absolutely awfull, you are made to feel that it is an inconvenience to order a drink.Customer service skills could do with some work.Would I return, unfortunately it is the only bar.
Well first off a propped demonstration that companies don't care about reviews. Look at them and they are pretty fair. How on earth is the food offering at T4 SOOOOOO bad. Service so so but then it must be depressing working for a company exploiting the lack pf chooce. They had run out of a componant of my forst choice. Server.told me it wasn't the important element. I chose something else. Boring tired served with stale chips. Come in USA get it together it's like 1970s England
This is certainly a step up for JFK, but unfortunately gets one thing very wrong: noise. Travel is tiring and jarring enough (especially in the US) and Le Grand Comptoir plays such loud rock music, it exacerbates the feeling in a negative way. Instead of 90s teen rock, some mellow jazz would be more on brand.
sat down, got menus, no service. just left
LE GRAND COMPTOIR has a nice selection of wines. Expect the airport markup but you can find some nice glasses for $10-13. The staff are knowledgeable and friendly. Try the Albarino for a crispy white citrus or the super Tuscan if you like a full bodied red with a hint of tannin. I ordered the tuna tartar. Omega 3 rich it was a healthy portion on avocado and cucumber. There was a spicy sauce drizzled along the plate...very tasty and the spice would pair nicely with the Spanish Martin Codax Albarino. Overall a nice way to wait out a departure at JFK.
Very rude bar tender who looked to be supervisor, he throws menus and cheques at you. We had to call him out on the way he was speaking and behaving with us. Free pouring wine it was hard to tell what I had got but i paid for a small glass that was on larger side .... there were a couple of girls working that would make eye contact to serve you. They all need training in customer service!
I should have read the reviews before coming here. The owner should really take notice. Kevin the bartender spent my whole time there complaining to Brian (other bartender) how he is the only one that shows up on time and how bad the other employees are, along with how bad it is to work at this place. Also, I had a Blue Moon, had 2 sips and clearly it was either the bottom of the keg, or just old beer, when I told Kevin this he exclaimed "Well do you want me to take it off your bill then?" Wow, great customer service from this place. I ended up paying for it anyways.
Unbelievably bad service. Awful food. Save yourself if possible and don’t come here.
This review is for the Le Grand Compator in Terminal 7 i been looking weeks for it to review but just see Terminal 4. My guy and I went there March 28th to kill time as we waited and had drinks but I later got hungry and our bartender cute self with such a unique pretty name suggested the "bruschetta and primavera salad". Omg I'm having craving for it right now! I would give her 5 stars! Only problem was the abrupt and rudeness of manager Liv who at time I asked for her boss name cause she's very unprofessional and didn't like her tone in which she spoke to customers and her workers. I could go for that salad and a mimosa but without that managers attitude! #LivSucks
The bar staff here obviously don’t know anything about service and spend far too much time entertaining each other and working on their social media on their mobiles. I had to ask for a menu, ask to be served and waited far too long for food. This is at 9:30 pm when there were very few customers here. I travel extensively and I will not be coming here again.
Enouk was our barman, he’s an incredibly arrogant, dismissive and rude person who has no place in a customer-facing role. He spent most his time flirting with one female customer, we waited at least 10 minutes for him to reluctantly serve us, he asked if we were sitting at the bar or a table, we chose two seats and sat down, he then snapped and told us that if we were sitting at a table then we should just “go away” because we wanted to immediately settle the bill. A very nice glass of wine was ruined by the pettiness and unprofessionalism of this particular member of staff. From reading the comments it seems this behaviour is common. Management should take note. Avoid.
Shocking prices!!! $25 for a beer and a G&T. Would’ve expected a little politeness from Enouk the bartender but was extremely rude. Waited a while to order a glass of wine when no one else being served so my husband gestured could he order please. Was told if he wanted private service to go to the VIP lounge!!! Another staff member apologised and shook my husbands hand but was busy serving someone else. Husband waited a minute or two whilst Enouk paraded round the bar. In anger my husband sat down without a drink. Glaring looks from Enouk and several minutes later he came over and asked if he would like a wine. NO THANK YOU!!! Won’t be back!!!!
Staff is horrible slow, not interested and are looking bored. Not a good bar for a quick beer, and did I mentioned overpriced? 12 dollars for a beer.
Very rude staff. I asked for a glass of tap water, as I had just done a pretty grim journey from Manhattan to the airport and was parched. The response I got was "Well are you gonna order something?" to which I responded "Not for now", the barman replied "well you gotta order something, this is a bar". Now, I would have understood if he had replied, "Unfortunately, we'd have to ask that you order something with that. Or there's a water fountain over there if that helps" or something to that end, but instead his response was just plain patronising. Not impressed.
Excellent wine list! Friendly & professional staff. Delicous tapas. The Cheese & Charcuterie plate was very good. The location is relatively quiet for being in an airport.
Good wine and good food.for a quick break in the airport
Avoid this place at all cost. One of the slowest service experiences I've ever had (especially considering the fast-paced environment of an airport). Not to mention the outrageous pricing. $19 for a cocktail. $22 for a standard glass of white wine. Tip: the "Apartment deli" across the way sells beer if you really need a drink.
paid almost $100 for lobster roll, croque monsieur, small wine and coke..the food was worst we have ever tasted..waiter was sullen and very unhelpful.. avoid this place!
Not bad, for airport food. But there are better options even within JFK.
Super overpriced for low quality food. The mimosas were good but $18.50 each. The egg products are microwaved, not fresh. And the service sucked.
Waited more than 45 minutes to receive unfresh salad and cold sliders. Avoid this place, there is reasons you don't need to wait for seats at this place.
Very quick to tell us where we couldn’t sit.Very slow to serve us when we sat in the correct place. We left. All I wanted to do was spend some money!!!
Great wine list; yummy tuna tartare.
Eggs were gross and came cold like they were pulled right from the fridge. Would have been grossly overpriced if they were warm. Server (guy with glasses) tried to convince me that they could be warmed up and when I refused then he comped the eggs but not my drinks. When I didn’t leave a tip he full on confronted me and told me I had wasted his time and that I should tip him even though the eggs were cold because the service was fine (it wasn’t). One of the worst restaurant experiences I’ve had. JFK airport is the face of NYC and can do better than this horrible establishment. Advise they do not renew the license in this toxic place with gross, overpriced food.
Was astonished at the ignorance and rudeness of the bar tender! He stood and chatted to 2 gentlemen at the bar even though he kept looking over and could see we were waiting to be served. When he finally came over after about 10 minutes he was rude. Worst service since landing in USA 5 days earlier. $23.95 for two small beers and the only tip I have him was maybe be more polite and he would have seen extra payment!
First of all I have to say "shame on me" for not reading the reviews before I order any food at this place. Not good customer service at all. Not My order of Parmesan truffle chips were cold and less appetizing than a bad winter in New York, sorry, New Yorkers, but this people say their chips are homemade! And then I have this thought " what if they are leftovers from other customers?"... I stopped eating at that very moment!... Yukky!!! 😭...well I just saw the bartender trow away my whole order of chips, meaning they are just plain bad!... Sorry I have to leave this bad review, but I don't want anyone else feel the way I do.
Incredible place. Very good meal!
